The design I picked is 12 pixels wide and 16 high so I picked a board that is 2 foot wide, making each pixel 2". Or cut your own board to make your own size and scale respectively.Use a measuring tape and a straight edge to draw a smooth gridI used a V shaped (45 degree) router bit to cut the grooves in the wood. I adjusted the depth and tested on some wood until I found a look I liked.
The best option here would be to use a router table but I had to make due. I used a 3 foot level and clamped it to the board and pushed my router against it to make straight lines on the board.
Skip this step if you can... Good news is, it gets cut off later.
Ha segnato i colori da dipingere su ciascun "pixel":
Ha tagliato con la sega i pixel di troppo:
...Immaginate se qui tagliava quelli sbagliati.
Non è successo.
use one of these 45 degree angle router bits to go around the edge of the piece, adding a "grove" on the outer part of Mario. Make sure to adjust the depth of the bit and test it out to make sure it matches the depth of the grooves.
Qui smussa i bordi con la carta vetrata e una lima.
Use sand paper and a flat file to pretty up and rough edges left behind primarily from the jigsawThis completely negated the steps where I labeled ever piece a specific color....Use good paint to avoid applying too many coats. Also, paint the lighter colors first because if you go outside the lines it is much easier to cover up with the darker coats.Almost done painting, we applied one more coat after this oneWe used a glossy, clear spray paint to make it shine.
