[NEWS] Index Holdings (Atlus) sta andando in bancarotta. [UPDATE: SEGA SAMMY COMPRA INDEX]

Notice is hereby given that SEGA DREAM CORPORATION, which was newly established as a wholly owned subsidiary by SEGA CORPORATION (“SEGA”), a subsidiary of SEGA SAMMY HOLDINGS INC. (the “Company”), has concluded a business transfer agreement with Index Corporation (“Index”) for the purpose of revitalization of the business. Under the agreement, SEGA will take over the operations conducted by Index, the bankrupt company that applied to the Tokyo District Court for the commencement of civil rehabilitation proceedings effective from June 27, 2013

Praticamente, SEGA ha acquistato Index e ha fondato SEGA Dream Corp., che se ho capito bene sarà il nuovo nome di Atlus.

The Company believes that transfer of Index’s operations to SEGA will create synergies, on the grounds that the deal will enable the Company to:

(1) gain access to prominent IPs in the home video game software, through which the Company can expect to achieve steady flows of revenue;

(2) expect further facilitation of revenue growth for the PC Online Game Business and Content Business for Smart Devices operated by SEGA and SEGA Networks Co., Ltd. by exploiting acquired prominent IPs

(3) maximize the value of acquired IPs by effectively deploying them in the Pachislot and Pachinko Machines segment, Amusement Machine Sales and Amusement Center Operations segments.

Oltre a produrre sequel delle franchise di Atlus, SEGA vorrebbe anche usarle per giochi online, smartphone e slot machine. welp

Boh, non so cosa pensarne, sinceramente. SEGA non è tanto brava a portare i loro JRPG fuori dal giappone, ma per quanto riguarda Persona penso che non si debba avere paura visto che è una franchise abbastanza conosciuta anche in EU/US. Per le altre franchise, potrebbe esserci qualche problema.

Index Holdings è una delle più grandi aziende giapponesi che possiede varie aziende più piccole in diversi campi; tra le quali Atlus (Shin Megami Tensei, Persona, Catherine), la casa anime Madhouse (Death Note, Card Captor Sakura, Hunter x Hunter) e il film studio Nikkatsu (che gira film porno e horror low-budget). Possiedono inoltre la squadra calcio francese Grenoble 38 che è stata promossa nella Ligue 1 appena dopo esser stata acquistata da Index.

Ora, ovviamente la domanda per noi più importante è: Cosa succederà a Atlus? Tra poco dovrebbero far uscire Dragon's Crown su PS3 e Vita, e si rumoreggia che hanno Persona 5 in sviluppo, che dovrebbe essere mostrato al TGS. Spero fortemente che vengano acquistati da un'altra azienda nel campo videoludico, che sia una delle case hardware (sony pls) oppure un grande publisher (Konami/GungHo forse?).

MS credo sia proprio l'ultima a cui importi Atlus, più probabili Sony o Nintendo (o altre SH Giapponesi), in caso la compra un'azienda diversa da Nintendo... beh fa la fine di Star Fox Adventures se manca poco alla fine dello sviluppo oppure cancellato.

Non la vedo improbabile che Nintendo si compri Atlus, stanno avendo grandi rapporti negli ultimi tempi. Inoltre, ricordo che c'è di mezzo un crossover (SMT meet FE).

Probabilmente una casa che permetta gli sviluppi di giochi per entrambe le piattaforme sarebbe il massimo, così non perderebbe clienti da entrambe le parti.

C'è pure Devil Survivor 2 Break Record in arrivo per 3DS comunque.

Atlus sta sviluppando parecchi giochi per console Nintendo (Etrian Odyssey, tutti quei SMT spin-off, SMT IV ESCLUSIVA, SMT x FE), mentre su console Sony abbiamo Persona 4 Arena, Catherine e un potenziale Persona 5 (che potrebbe benissimo essere per Wii U)... boh, stiamo a vedere. di sicuro non scomparirà del tutto come sh, non c'è pericolo.

Sarebbe una mossa intelligente per ritagliarsi una fetta di pubblico anche in territorio nipponico (mi pare che i giochi Atlus vendano piuttosto bene da quelle parti), ma MS non sembra interessata a quel mercato.

Non correrebbe il rischio solo per il Giappone, inoltre America ed Europa si interessano poco a quella casa se non per saghe come gli SMT classici, Persona e magari Etrian Odyssey.

Oh sì, mi ricordo che nel 2010 Atlus era andata in bancarotta e venne acquistata da Index, mentre ora pare che Index con vari magheggi (tra cui quindi truffe e altro) sia nei guai fino al collo, lol.
